Sarah Palin And Her Web of Lies

Sarah Palin is a pop star. She has single handedly managed to focus the attention of a segment of the American population that was forced to struggle with the failures of George Bush yet wanted a reason to vote republican again. McCain tends to be leaning more moderate on most issues... more so than Bush and some of his other party mates. So when he had to choose a running mate he needed someone that could pander to the hard core right wing elements that were otherwise struggling with the delusions that the Republican party is actually worthy of votes.

Palin made a phenomenal entrance into the world of Washington politics when she got up on stage and made her speech about hockey moms, female dogs, and lipstick. The crowd cried tears of joy thinking that finally the republican party was delivering the hard core right wing elements they always wanted to see.

Of course that is when the pieces started to crumble... though the crowd refused to see it.

During the Republican convention, Palin brought her family for all the world to see. The world was introduced to Palin's teenage daughter who was pregnant out of wedlock. How could a hardcore conservative audience approve and in effect make Palin's pregnant teenage daughter a role model for their own kids? Aren't these the same people that claim TV shows are polluting our youth's minds by showing sex and homosexuality as a normal thing. Do they not feel that applauding a pregnant unwed teenager is going to leave an impression on young girls?

We were also made aware that Palin was the mother of an infant baby with Down's syndrome. Of course anyone with a high school education knows that risk of Down's syndrome is increased dramatically when a person over the age of 35 decides to have a child. Palin was in her 40's when she chose to get pregnant again.

Of course the crowd went wild with a public orgasm at the thought of Palin "sticking to her morals" by not aborting her disabled baby (a very honorable thing to do). The crowd also cheered at the fact that Palin's teenage daughter decided to keep her baby as well.

But wait a second... are these things to cheer about? Palin is known for speaking out against sex education in schools because she feels it is the parents' obligation to teach their children... not the schools. So why did she not teach her kids about sex? Despite the fact that teenage pregnancy has reached the lowest level in 30 years (in large part due to sex education in schools) Palin bucks the trend and shows what happens when no one talks to a confused teenage girl who runs around unsupervised.

Members of the republican party and the right wing have often said that lack of parental supervision is the reason why kids get into trouble. They want to cut programs and funding for youth activities stating that the government has no business taking care of children because that is the parents' job.

So as I watched the Republican convention I was surprised to see Palin's little daughter caring for her disabled infant sister while the Palin's stood onstage gloating in their success. Maybe if they were supervising their elder daughter a little more she would not have had the opportunity to fornicate and become pregnant?

Yet the crowd continued to cheer.

Palin's own decision to have unprotected intercourse with her husband and give birth at such a late age also shows Palin's hypocrisy and disregard for moral standards. She and her Party have ridiculed and belittled poor women for being pregnant while they are on welfare. The republican party and its supporters have ridiculed the institution of welfare saying that it is a burden on our society and the people on welfare need to learn to stop having babies if they cannot pay for them.

So tell me what happens to Palin's disabled baby when the Palins pass away? Who is going to take care of this child who is likely to have an IQ too low to be able to get a meaningful education and be able to work for a living? Naturally the government will be caring for Palin's disabled child and the welfare system that her Party so loathes will be the one to support Palin's lack of discretion.

Yet still the crowd cheered.

Perhaps the Barracuda (as Palin was known in College) deserved more credit than her lack of family morals portrayed. After all Bill Clinton showed us that even though you could be a terrible and dishonest family man, you could still lead a country. But of course then the details of Palin's dishonesty became news.

Palin was accused of using her power as Alaska's governor to try and have her ex brother in law removed from his job as a State trooper. Her brother-in-law was a man of questionable character (it bothers me why Palin's sister would have married him) but why was Palin so interested in having his record and his job scrutinized? Does she scrutinize the records of all state employees to weed out those with questionable characters? At first Palin denied this charge but when members of her inner circle were recorded asking why her brother in law was still holding a job... she could no longer deny the charges and has instead remained eerily silent about the issue.

Of course there is a mass movement to have the findings of this investigation and any subsequent legal action delayed or dropped. Palin and her husband (along with several other people involved in the scandal) have refused to respond to subpoenas regarding the enquiry. Effectively they are giving the middle finger to our judicial system by refusing to answer questions. Could an ordinary citizen refuse to respond to a subpoena without any consequences? Of course Palin is no ordinary citizen. Seeing what happened with Karl Rove.... I would not be surprised if the Right Wing's movement to crush the investigation is successful.

In addition to the Troopergate allegations, Palin has been accused of using personal email accounts in order to avoid public disclosure and scrutiny of her dealings. According to Federal Rules, all official government business is to be carried out using official government email so that there is a level of transparency in government affairs. This is to discourage politicians from conducting illegal and private business while serving in the government. In addition, the rules also state that no emails relating to official business are to be deleted so that there will always be a public record of the dealings of our politicians.

Sarah Palin of course is above the law. She denied using her personal accounts for official business and denied deleting official business emails. As of September 16, 2008 an anonymous group hacked into Sarah Palin's personal yahoo email accounts and posted the results online. Of course hacking into personal email accounts is illegal and the secret service is investigating, but the results of the hack show that Palin was once again lying. There are several emails relating to official business interspersed with her personal emails.

Why was Palin going outside of normal official email channels? Was it so that some of her emails would not become public record? What if she does this while she is Vice President of the United States? Don't you think the Russians or the Chinese would be interested in hacking her personal account to see what type of secret dealings she is carrying out? Isn't this an issue of national security?

In spite of the corruption. In spite of the lack of personal ethics and family values. In spite of all the scandals and abuse of power... People will still vote for Sarah Palin.

To these people it does not matter that our country is becoming over-infested with corruption and scandals. It does not matter that our economy is declining while former third world countries are on the rise. It does not matter to them that even our military might does not scare countries like Russia anymore.

All that matters to these people is that a hockey mom looks damn cute on stage. Hollywood ethics has finally taken over the White House.
